Florida is home to many theme and amusement parks like the Walt Disney World Resort and all the various Disney Amusement Parks, Universal Studios Orlando. Be thrilled on the Kraken roller coaster at SeaWorld Orlando Adventure Park and be entertained by dolphins there or at Discovery Cove. Florida also has many water parks and beautiful gardens like Bok Tower.
There’s a multitude of outdoor activities for the adventure in all of us. Check out some of these activities, to name a few: golf, surfing, wind-surfing, riding, hiking, cycling, fishing, deep-sea fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling, canoeing, swimming with dolphins, hot air balloons and air boat through the Everglades, plus thousands of miles of beautiful beaches. Surely, you can find what you had in mind when you consider Florida vacations.
Frequently the primary draw to Florida, especially for families, turns out to be the Orlando area. However, if you are one of those travelers not interested in theme parks, there is still lot of things to do in the Orlando area. International Drive in Orlando is where many of the hotels are situated, and it is also a treasure trove of shopping, dining, and entertainment.
Titanic, The Exhibition is just one of those numerous museums found here. It is situated in the Mercado on International Drive. One of the most remarkable parts of this attraction is that the guest is given a "ticket" at the beginning, containing the name of a Titanic passenger. In the last part of the tour, there is an enormous wall with all the names of passengers, and it shows whether or not the person listed on the visitor's ticket survived the disaster in 1912. It is quite sobering to see the destiny of the person the visitor is representing.
Ripley's Believe It Or Not is also found on International Drive. The Ripley's building itself is an "oddity." It is created in such a way that it seems that one side of the building is falling into a sinkhole. Museum hours are extensive, with the doors opening at 9 a.m. and the remaining ticket being sold at midnight. The doors close at 1 a.m.
For a very different kind of exciting activity in the Orlando area, visit the Kissimmee Airport and fly (with an instructor) a North American T-6 trainer from WWII fame at Warbird Adventures. This is the actual plane, not a "ride" or simulator; the tourist is in control and flies the plane.
If you would rather see the western part of the state and the Gulf of Mexico coast while in Florida, a fun stop is Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay. This theme park is known for its great shows, rides, and a huge variety of animal attractions from African animals to bird gardens and is definitely a full day trip.
